sketchy thursdays + 5&Dime + Girls Night Out

May 10th, 2011 § 5 Comments

I have finally gotten hold of October Afternoon’s 5&Dime and it was more yummy than expected. i love everything in this collection and what great way to utilize the goodies by using sketchy thursdays’ latest sketch ( which i absolutely love as well)

The only non-October Afternoon stuff are the cute brads from My Mind’s Eye. Here’s some close ups!

I love these girls – Jing and Stella. It was fun watching the Dance for Japan production together since we were all from dance and it’s been a LONG time since we watched a dance show together. Absolutely loved the show and it was for a good cause! Damn i miss dancing.

Here’s my take on Scrapbookcircle’s challenge #6. The challenge is to use banners in the layout and my inspiration came from one of my favourite scrappers – Piradee! I think i took much better photos on exchange as compared to now. I guess exchange was just inspiring. haha..i’m running out on photos to scrap. i need to get my mojo back!!!!

i think i have to learn how to take things less seriously. take scrapping as an example, i am always worrying about EVERYTHING. is it too simple? is it too much? have i pushed myself beyond my comfort zone? is it an interesting layout? is the title witty enough? because of all these questions running in my head, i often take more hours than i should to complete a project.

today, i wanted to have fun. i wanted to go with the first thing that came to my mind. it was really really hard but i managed to finish the layout as seen below within an hour. *yay*

caption: These were the reasons behind my 7kg gain during exchange. my favourites are definitely the pizza from spontini and gelato from grom! looking at all these food is making me really hungry.
supplies:
papers – cosmo cricket, my mind’s eye, october afternoon
stickers: 7 gypsies, the girls’ paperie
alphas: october afternoon, EK success, doodlebug design inc
others: washi tapes, brads(making memories and basicgrey)

i used to think that i have abnormally high metabolic rate and will therefore stay skinny regardless of how much i eat. but i guess i ate a little too much that my metabolism couldn’t even handle the amount of food i was consuming throughout exchange.haha. on a brighter note, i’m glad to have finally shed off the 7kg due to the intensive dance sessions that i’m having currently in preparation for my dance production in feb. so hooray to dance (:

i am a travelholic

December 12th, 2010 § 3 Comments

here’s my take on KCK challenge – using at least 3 basic grey products. i love love love making travel-related projects so here’s yet another travel-related layout!

used 5 basic grey products in total.
papers: urban prairie (urp 1314) and wander (wan 2971)
ribbon doilies: cur 2060
office tabs: wan 3010
label stickers: bas-2575

I haven’t used stamps for SUCH A LONG TIME so it was fun stamping alphas on the basicgrey urban prairie paper, cutting them out and using foam dots to make them pop up from the layout. it’s also my first time using my newly-bought washi tapes. Love journalling on them and the best thing is they can be easily removed from the paper which means you can reposition your washi tapes without the fear of damaging your layout!

my travel journal

after working on it for months, my travel journal is finally almost done. i’m only left with the journalling but at least it finally looks like a book now ( instead of random pages and ticket stubs and photos scattered around) it’s my first time using my bind-it-all and oh boy! I LOVE THE MACHINE. here’s a closer look at some of the pages in my journal (:

more updates on my journal soon! on a side note, i just started my internship right after my exams so i am feeling pretty exhausted. thank gawd work is interesting. and glad that friday is coming. i have never yearned for a weekend so badly in my life. haha.

my 1st colour combo galore challenge

November 24th, 2010 § 3 Comments

because i love the colour combo so much in challenge #167,

i decided to take a break from studying to create a layout. here’s my take on the challenge!

supplies: patterned paper – prima marketing, alpha stickers – american craft, others – jennibowlin, jim holtz, making memories.

i’ve used quite a number of knick knacks for this layout – cream lace, twine, button – that aren’t bought in any scrapbooking shops. love getting them from Chinatown. and part of the challenge was to create pleats. was wondering what i could do with the lace when it dawned on me that i could use BRADS to create pleats on the lace. it was fun (:

a little story behind this layout – this is my 2nd layout on venice. here’s my 1st – venetian masks and couture shots.i absolutely love venetian masks if you realise. bought 3 in one day. now i wish there will be a masquerade party where i can show my mask off! HAHA. the girl in my layout in najiah – my awesome roommate (:

time to hit the books again! ciaoo.

supplies: patterned paper – my mind’s eye, making memories, cosmo cricket; brads – making memories, my mind’s eye; thickers; american craft; alpha: jenni bowlin, doodlebug design

my italian is still not as fluent as i wished it was. but if there’s one phrase that i have to know ( and know very well), it has to be “una coppetta piccola”, which means “one small cup” and it comes with TWO flavours. very useful when it comes to buying gelato in italy. haha.. ask me any italian phrases regarding gelato. i know it all. this shows how addicted i was to gelato. not just any gelato but ITALIAN gelato. i swear i have never had so much gelato in my life.

craving for some crema di grom and stracciaterra now. mmmm.

this was what i have done with girl’s paperie on holiday series

PS: i love the camera die cut!!!
supplies – die cuts: girl’s paperie, alpha stickers: october afternoon, border sticker: cosmo cricket, brads: Jim Holtz

went on a tuscany trip with Cheryl in June during my exchange and we signed up for the GRAPE ESCAPE DAY TRIP organized by Plus Florence. it was definitely the highlight of our trip as we visited vineyards, learned more about wine tasting and explored the chianti region. here’s more picture on the day trip!

we also visitedSan Gimignano, a medieval city in the tuscany area. apparently, the world champion gelato is right in San Gimignano. we tried it but i honestly don’t think it’s that fantastic. i’ve had better ones, like GROM and SAN CRISPINO.

gosh. i miss italy terribly =(

addicted to girl’s paperie

October 31st, 2010 § 2 Comments

recently bought a few girl’s paperie products and boy, i am IN LOVE with them. here’s what i have gotten!

and here’s what i have done with the paper girl series.

supplies – die cuts: girl’s paperie, rose: prima marketing inc, gold sequinn: prima marketing inc, lace

random fact: this photo was taken in some Macdonald outlet in Paris. not much significance but i love this photo because i think both of us look good in this photo. haha.. and carolyn is the epitome of femininity. paper girl series fits her so perfectly!

on a side note, i stumbled upon this website – ScrapMap while browsing through girl’s paperie website. I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE ARE SCRAPBOOKING CRUISES. HOW AWESOME IS THAT. oh my gosh. there’s so many scrapbooking opportunities in US that sometimes i wish i could just pack my bag and fly to US to pursue a scrapbooking career. haha.

thanks for looking!

don’t forget to…

… stop and smell the flowers.

one of the things in my exchange-to-do-list was to visit the tulip garden in holland. the weather this year was really cranky, so the flowers actually bloomed later than usual. but i was blessed to catch the tulip season at the right time! i guess the photos say it all. keukenhof was extremely gorgeous. here’s one of my many favourite photos taken by my trusty lumix cam. (this photo was uneditted btw. you can imagine how amazingly pretty the flowers are in real life!)

it was tough choosing just NINE shots to squeeze into my layout. but i guess i did it =)

just a very simple layout so that the photos can stand out. i’m glad that flowers and lace complement each other very well!

for all flowers fanatics, i bet you will go crazy in holland. a dozen of tulips for TWO euros. gosh.

Where Am I?
