headed to zuma for sunday brunch with eugene. apparently you gotta make reservation one month in advance and of course there’s always the ever thoughful eugene to plan such stuff. thanks bee (:
zuma serves japanese cuisine and you can pay 550hkd per person to enjoy free flow champagne/wine along with the buffet.( or about 450ish hkd to go without the alcohol) besides the buffet bar, you get to select one main course from the menu

sunday brunches are always lovely.

eugene came back over the weekend for an early valentine’s day celebration. was a pleasant surprise! he brought me to prive for a nice brunch on Sunday and the food certainly didn’t disappoint us.

Egg Royale was divineee.
for the love of paris – unofficial canal st-martin food guide

eugene and i are both food lovers and we were blown away by the french cuisine we had in paris. food aside, one thing we really love about paris restaurants and cafes is that each of them has its own unique character and tells a different story through its ambience, layout and deco. I’m crazy about interior deco so it was really inspirational. here’s our personal favs near where we stayed at canal st-martin ( nearest metro: republique)
1. Le Bistro Des Oies

What we love: the cosy and quaint ambience that reminds us fondly of the restaurant in “ratatouille”, the friendly owner and the cute waitress, the fries and mash potato that comes with the main, and of course the main
What we are not so fond of: the dessert was quite a disappointment. give it a miss.
Price range: 15 euros for the set lunch
Address: 33 rue bichat Paris 75010
Tel: 01 42 08 34 86
2. Marcel

What we love: the sophisticated deco of the restaurant. they served indian food but it was really good. try the briyani! the unqiue mint-spice thing we had after footing our bill was interesting.
What we are not so fond of: was kinda hoping that they served french cuisine but if you are craving for indian food in paris, marcel’s the place to go!
Price range: about 13-15 euros for each main
Address: 90 Quai Jemmapes Paris 75010
3. Hotel Du Nord

What we love: EVERYTHING. i had caramelized mackerel and eugene had lamp chop and both were mind blowing. my first bite on the caramelized mackerel took me by surprise as i didn’t expect caramel and fish to go so well together. eugene’s lamp chop was done very nicely too.
the desserts were also to-die-for. i might have tasted creme brulee before but the one we had at hotel du nord left a lasting impression for sure. there was a thin layer of chocolate beneath the creme brulee and a thin layer of caramel on top. the combination was divine as each layer was of the right amount.
What we are not so fond of: slightly pricey but the quality of food worth every single euro we paid for.
Price range: about 18-21 euro per main
Address: 102 Quai De Jemmapes Paris 75010

i think i have to learn how to take things less seriously. take scrapping as an example, i am always worrying about EVERYTHING. is it too simple? is it too much? have i pushed myself beyond my comfort zone? is it an interesting layout? is the title witty enough? because of all these questions running in my head, i often take more hours than i should to complete a project.
today, i wanted to have fun. i wanted to go with the first thing that came to my mind. it was really really hard but i managed to finish the layout as seen below within an hour. *yay*

caption: These were the reasons behind my 7kg gain during exchange. my favourites are definitely the pizza from spontini and gelato from grom! looking at all these food is making me really hungry.
supplies:
papers – cosmo cricket, my mind’s eye, october afternoon
stickers: 7 gypsies, the girls’ paperie
alphas: october afternoon, EK success, doodlebug design inc
others: washi tapes, brads(making memories and basicgrey)

i used to think that i have abnormally high metabolic rate and will therefore stay skinny regardless of how much i eat. but i guess i ate a little too much that my metabolism couldn’t even handle the amount of food i was consuming throughout exchange.haha. on a brighter note, i’m glad to have finally shed off the 7kg due to the intensive dance sessions that i’m having currently in preparation for my dance production in feb. so hooray to dance (:

my italian is still not as fluent as i wished it was. but if there’s one phrase that i have to know ( and know very well), it has to be “una coppetta piccola”, which means “one small cup” and it comes with TWO flavours. very useful when it comes to buying gelato in italy. haha.. ask me any italian phrases regarding gelato. i know it all. this shows how addicted i was to gelato. not just any gelato but ITALIAN gelato. i swear i have never had so much gelato in my life.
craving for some crema di grom and stracciaterra now. mmmm.
