weekend trip to torino

The weekend trip to turin has been really pleasant, thanks to the awesome hotel experience we had, the interesting museum visits and of course the great company that i had during the trip – jason and naj =)
Took a cab to our hotel ( Pacific hotel Fortino) and was surprised that the cab driver could speak pretty decent english. he even told us the brief history of Torino. That was our first encounter with torino people and well.. it was a good first impression!
The hotel may be slightly far away from the city center, but the service was really good and definitely worth every single cent that we paid ( bout 23 euros per person, which is pretty comparable to hostel price) The receptionist, Danielle, was really friendly and helpful. She made our trip a breeze! and gosh..even the breakfast the following morning was decent. we were also amazed at how technologically advanced the hotel was. i was so so so grateful for the heater in the toilet.
Our first stop was the open market @ Porta Palazza. Was filled with gems that i would LOVE to own but they aren’t practical cos they serve no purpose. If only i have a physical shop that i can decorate. I did however succumb to getting a wooden artist case from this guy who was selling art stuff.
I shall let the pictures do the talking cos i think i can go on for days just for a 2-day trip. gawd.
1. Museo Nazionale Del Cinema
Took the lift to reach the top of La Mole Antonelliana ( which houses the National Museum of Cinema) and the panoramic view of turin was BREATHTAKING. could actually see the snow-capped mountains surrounding turin but sadly my cam can’t really capture it =(
2. Borgo E Rocca Medievale Di Torino
Palazzo Madama was fun cos Jason and i were sneaking around the museum trying to get high fashion shots. It was really fun being Jason’s photographer cos he was so good with his expressions and poses! haha.. it’s an alternative way to appreciate the artworks in the museum and in my opinion, a lot more fun =)
On a side note:
1. It was my first time taking the regional train in italy. have officially decided that i love taking trains cos it’s so hassle-free and i seem to sleep pretty well in trains =)
2. Get the torino pass!!!! It’s 20 euros for the 2-day pass ( includes free rides on public transportations) and we visited about 5 museums.
3. Bicerin is a traditional drink of Torino. ( see collage #1)
will add on my random thoughts when i actually have random thoughts on torino!
